Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque

"Mint Julep Masque is the original natural home treatment to help dry up pimples, rinse away blackheads and shrink enlarged pores."

This past week my skin has been a NIGHTMARE, spot after spot which I'm putting down to Yasmin Contraceptive Pill as it's the only thing that's changed and I hope it's just an initial breakout and that my body adjusts to this pill.

I first came across this mask on google, alot of people from the US raved on about this mask and how well it worked on drying up pimples etc. I purchased mine from eBay I think for around £5 or less, this isn't readily available like it is in the US drugstores so going into a shop and picking this up is very unlikely so I'd have a browse around the net/eBay if your interested.

The mask is a thick/green clay like consistency and has a minty/menthol smell to it, when I applied this to my skin I did notice a bit of a tingly sensation which lasted a couple of seconds but this is normal so don't be scared, although I don't know how people with dry skin would find this. The mask dried in a couple of minutes and I normally leave it on for around 20mins or so but you can leave it on for less if your in a rush.

To remove the mask is very simple, just wash your face with water or if you wanted you could use a muslin cloth. After the masque is removed skin feels clean, refreshed and smooth...pimples/spots will look less angry and pores will be noticeably smaller. Just to note, this product will not get rid of spots straight away no product will perform those kind of miracles unfortunately but you will notice how well this mask dries them up and with continued use the spots will disappear.

I love this mask, so cheap yet effective. Anyone else tried Queen Helene products?

  2. This is my go-to mask! Any time my skin feels out a whack - super oily, little breakouts, and just huge open pores (nastiness all together lol)- I pull this secret weapon out and it whips it back into shape. I've used it for YEARS! I hope it helps you!

FYI - I tried Yaz and my skin FREAKED out too like yours. I didn't even give it a chance to get used to it because it happened just 3 weeks before my wedding! Luckily, I quit the pill and went back to my old routine (using my trusty mint mask!)and it healed my skin right in time for the wedding. Good luck!

    1. It's really good in drying up excess oil too, it's crap to hear that you had trouble with the same pill aswell. I just know if I quit it that my skin would go back to normal but I'm sick of switching all the time so hopefully it'll settle down, it's started to clear up a little so fingers crossed x

  3. I purchased the bigger tub just over a year ago, and i've hardly made a dent on the amount of product! All you need is a small amount to cover the whole face, and i find the results to be really great :) x
